Manchester has two railway stations; Manchester Victoria and Manchester Piccadilly. Both of these stations service the stations to the east of Manchester so have thousands of people passing through them every week. However, Manchester Victoria is more eastern and, as such, all trains from Manchester Victoria pass through it, making it ultimately pointless and more expensive to catch a train from there. The best option, therefore, is to catch the train from Manchester Victoria. For people who are not local, it is essential that people are able to get there and often it isn’t easy to go by public transport. This means that the only available option is to drive and park at the station.

There are numerous advantages to this. Firstly, when you return from your trip it is very likely that you will be very tired after a long day of travel and not want to try and negotiate the public transport system because it seems like an unnecessary hassle. Having your car there removes the problem as it means you can be in control of your own journey without any hassle. Second, the cost isn’t as high as might be expected when you park at the station. For a day, it is a little under £5. With public transport prices skyrocketing every month it is important that you save in any way you can; by saving more on your transport to the station it allows you to spend more on the train fair – perhaps even upgrading you to first class!

Victoria Station Car Park

I am leaving London for a while on holiday and have been tempted to park at Victoria station car park so that it is easier with my luggage to get my bus. I hate struggling on public transport with lots of bags and things but I am concerned about leaving my car in a car park for two weeks, partly because of the expense and partly because of the security. I am sure it will be fine but I normally leave it in a garage and so I am not sure if the insurance company would pay out if it got bumped or scratched or anything. I am wondering whether it might be better to hire a car. I know that I can drop a car off at the station as there is a depot there, so I would just have to find one near to where I live.

I think this could be a much better option because I will not be worrying about the car as I know it will be safe and I will have to pay for car parking too so I could put that towards the price of the hire car and it will be worth it for the peace of mind it will give me while I am away. I do not want to be constantly worrying on holiday, I tend to be a worrier anyway and I want this to be an opportunity for me to be able to relax not for me to find even more things to worry about.
