Victoria Station in London is one of the busiest stations in the country; second after Waterloo. If you have flown into the country at Gatwick Airport, you can get a direct train to Victoria Station. From here it’s just a short car journey to your ultimate destination – car hire is abundant around Victoria station. The station was built a long time ago, opened in 1868, which means that it wasn’t designed to deal with the capacity as it is today. As a result, there can be severe overcrowding at peak times so crowd control measures have to be put in place over these periods; when in place passengers are not allowed into the station until the current rush has cleared. This can add time on to your journey so remember to account for it! An upgrade of the station to increase its capacity is planned sometime around 2017 to ease crowding issues.

If you wish to try and drive across London upon arriving at Victoria Station, there is plenty of car hire available – lots of car hire companies in the area will try and compete for your business, which results in very cheap deals to be had. Simply look around the area and compare prices to find the one that suits you best. There are also excellent car parking facilities near the station open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week so you can park a car there if you wish, take a train to Gatwick, have a business meeting in another country, jet back and find your car ready and waiting at Victoria Station.
